San Francisco Sunday

Boudin Sourdough Bread
Along the waterfront in San Francisco is the home of the world famous sourdough bread. Famous since the days of the California Gold Rush in 1849, the bread has an unforgettable taste. It is made from a fermented starter rather than yeast. The building is designed for tourists to observe the 24 hour process of making the bread.

Hi Donna,
Thanks for the info about the sourdough shop. Mom had a starter packet from an 80 year old sourdough starter. She made french bread with it and it was outstanding! The recipe spoke about true San Fran sourdough and I'll bet hers was a good as any they bake! We're hoping for one last round of mushrooms (pear shaped puffballs). We were going to go hunting for them today but it's pouring rain. Perhaps later this week. She does have some short-stalk suillus growing under a 3-needle pine in her front yard. They come up every year around this time and are delicious. We stopped at Jodi's shop last week and saw your jewelry collection. Your pieces were just lovely! Keep in touch. Diane;
Thank you for your comment. I wish we were in Ohio to learn so much from you and the "fruit of the earth". Two years ago I read an article related to a group that hunts wild mushrooms here in San Diego. I kept the info and thought that when we returned that Fall I would get in touch. It didn't happen and now I have to wait to read something again as you have surely sparked my interest. Say hi to your mom.
