Ground Hog Day

Ground Hog Day
I checked early today and learned Punxatawney Phil crawled from his burrough to see his shadow. Winter will continue for six more weeks. Here in California we just don't seem to mind Winter. We do not travel roads with worry if the plows or salt trucks have been through yet. The driveway never needs that dreadful job of being shoveled. We never ask: will the schools be closed for a snow day! Are the pipes frozen and do we need to call the plumber? When is the power being restored? Will the car start? Will the snow blower start? How much snow did the weatherman predict and how low did he say the temperature will go tonight? Have winds been forcasted with drifting of the the snow? We just put on the sunscreen and enjoy being embraced by temperatures in the mid seventies and chuckle when the weather reporter says the surf is just ankle-slappers today.
