Orange Cookies ..... Day One of "Twelve Days of Christmas Cookies" From Friends.

Orange Cookies
I asked twelve people to share a family favorite recipe or a traditional recipe and give a little story about the recipe. This was my first response. My cousin Susan shares her family favorite Christmas cookie recipe. It has been in the family for many years and was given to her by her paternal grandmother. It is a great tradition in Susan's family to make the cookies and decorate as a family activity.

1/2 cup shortening
5 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
2 cups sugar
