The Desert In Bloom
The Desert is in bloom following an unusually high rainfall in January and February. It really is quite a spectacle. The rocky cliffs which project and support plant life cause amazement. The desert floor of pebbles which supports flora reminds one how hardy plant life is. Our friends had never been to the desert so we thought this would be a time to go. We learned that several trails would lead you to different sights. We chose the 1.5 mile hike to the Canyon Oasis. I checked my pedometer and it was unanimous, it was more than the posted distance. We climbed rocks and slid down rocks on the "path" to the oasis. My last photo shows a large stone used by the Indians to grind grains. If you concentrate on the upper left and lower right you will see two circular indentations. We learned that the heavy rains cause the huge rocks to get washed down the sides of the mountains.

We returned late, back to daughter Anne and son-in-law Greg's home for a dinner prepared by their visitor, Uncle Bruce, which will be posted as Saturday's feature.
Dad looks like he's thinking about building a hotel out in the desert featuring raw food.
