Sour Cream Cut-out Cookies
Ingredients:
1 cup butter, softened
1½ cups sugar
3 large eggs, beaten
1 cup sour cream
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
3½ to 4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
Frosting:
⅓ cup shortening
1 teaspoon vanilla
4 cups powdered sugar
½ cup milk
4 cups powdered sugar
½ cup milk
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar. Stir in the eggs, sour cream and vanilla. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder and baking soda. Add dry ingredients to wet ingredients and stir until a soft dough is formed. On a floured surface, roll dough out to ½-inch thickness. Cut out with cookie cutters and place on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 10 minutes or until golden brown around the edges. Remove from oven and cool on pan for 5 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool.
