Isabelle's Nectarine Tart
Isabelle and her sister Sara are two of the sweetest and most gifted girls. They attribute many of their culinary skills to their phenomenal grandmother Alice. I also want to add, Alice at 80 received a new pair of skis last Christmas and she continues to hit the trails daily in ski season in Switzerland where she lives.
Ingredients:
1 cup all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 rounded teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temp
3/4 cup + 1/2 tablespoon sugar, divided*
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2+ nectarines, cut in 1/2" wedges*
1/2 teaspoon grated nutmeg
9" springform pan
*TIP: Isabelle suggests less sugar (1/2 cup) and more nectarines (5)
Directions:
Sift together the flour baking powder, and salt, set aside.
Beat the butter and sugar until pale and fluffy. Isabelle recommends 1/2 cup sugar). Add eggs one at a time then add the vanilla and nutmeg.
Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients and mix well until the flour is thoroughly mixed. The batter will be sticky like a pizza dough.
Prepare the springform pan. Spread the batter evenly. Scatter the nectarine wedges in a design on the top. Sprinkle with 1/2 tablespoon sugar.
Bake at 350 degrees for 45 - 50 minutes. Cool 10 minutes and then remove the sides of the pan. Allow to cool to warm and serve.
