Oktoberfest Sauerkraut Served At San Rafael Church

   friends complete with a German Band, a German meal finished off with apple strudel and ice cream.

A lady member of our church told the Knights last year that she would make the sauerkraut next year and was it ever a hit! I will share the kraut recipe: Adjust it to your liking:

Ingredients:
1 large can (? 28 oz.) rinsed well and drained well
1 stick butter
1 large brown skinned cooking onion
3/4 teaspoon caraway seed
1/2 to 1 cup water
3 tablespoons brown sugar

Directions:

Drain a large can of sauerkraut and rinse well and drain well again.  

Melt the stick of butter, sauté the onion to soften (not browned).  Add to kraut.  Add caraway seed, water, and brown sugar.

Mix well.  Cook on stove top 50 minutes.
